NLCDC successfully conducted national seminar on International Lake Basin Management (ILBM) for the sustainability of Himalayan lakes on March 26-29, 2010. ILBM is a comprehensive management tool that advocates on lake governance. It has six governance pillars i.e., institutions, policies, participation, technology, information and finance. Integration of these components helps harmonizing lake issues.
A total of 77 including national and International participants from India, Bhutan, Pakistan, Philippines and Japan were involved. The seminar incorporated first two days for presentation and floor discussion, two days for Pokhara field trip and meeting with the first president of Nepal Dr. Rambaran Yadav, Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal and Honorable Minister Mr. Saradsingh Bhandari (Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation).
